Package Design

ASPEN ROOTS

Aspen Roots is a plant shop created to educate people about plant ownership and emphasizes the benefits of plants. Aspen Roots aims to make plants accessible and exciting for those with green (or brown) thumbs.

This project features the packaging for a twilight zone aloe succulent. Copy explains care instructions and important information, combined with plant-related motivational blurbs. The vines throughout the package mimic growing and roots. Earth tones and a textured natural paper pair together to relate back to the core of the brand.

The brief of the project was “reverse package design”, giving the designer the blank package and leaving it up to me to decide what would fit. The window provides an ideal space to give a sneak peek at the product, a small succulent. The problem of keeping the plant, pot, and saucer secure in the package was solved through engineering trial and error. The brand and package design leaves room to imagine a wide variety of plants sold in a similar way.
